Heartland Retail now allows you to configure gift cards to expire after a certain period of time.

Want to enable gift card expiration?

  1. Click the "Settings" link in the top navigation menu.

  2. Click the "Payments" link in the settings menu.

  3. Click the "Gift Card" link.

You will land on this page:

To enable gift card expiration, flip the switch where it says "Should gift cards expire?" into the "yes" position.

Once you have done so, you will see additional options:

As you can see, you can specify the number of months after which a gift card will expire.

Also, since Heartland Retail allows you to reload an existing gift card, you can also choose whether or not to reset the expiration date of a gift card after you have added additional funds via the POS.

If you have existing gift card balances in Heartland Retail that do not have expiration dates and you'd like to start using this feature, you will need to do a gift card balance import to overwrite the existing gift cards with expiration dates.
