Getting Started
Before you can redeem coupons in Heartland Retail, you will first need to create your coupons. The article Creating POS Coupons and Coupon Codes will tell you everything you need to know about how to create a manage coupons.
Note: in order for users to redeem coupons in the POS, they need to have the View and redeem coupons permission turned on in their respective roles.
Redeeming Coupons
In the POS, a coupon code can be manually typed or scanned into the Scan item or coupon here... field, as shown below:
If you manually type the coupon code in to the field, you'll need to press the Enter key.
If you scan the coupon with a barcode scanner, it will automatically apply the coupon to the POS ticket.
Here is what a POS ticket looks like when a coupon is scanned:
Notes:
Only one coupon can be added to a POS ticket at a time. If, after applying a coupon, you scan another coupon code to a ticket, it will replace the previously applied coupon code on the ticket.
If you add an item to a ticket and manually adjust its price, it will no longer be able to have a coupon applied to it. However, any other items present on the ticket with prices that have not been manually adjusted can still have a coupon apply to them if otherwise applicable.
